I’m going to send in my FAFSA tonight, but I’m listing 9 colleges. But what happens if I send in my FAFSA and I apply to another university not listed on the FAFSA after I submit my FAFSA?

If you want to get a financial aid award letter from that new school, then you would need to go to the fafsa website and click "Add or Delete a school code" and add your 10th school to your fafsa. If you decide you want to go to an 11th school, you would need to delete one of the school codes before you add your 11th. Be sure you realize if you want to get a financial aid "Award Letter" from all of those schools you are going to have to apply for admission to all of them… (and be accepted). Most schools don’t issue award letters to students unless they have applied and paid for the admission application process. Also, each school will have it’s own set of fin aid paperwork for you to fill out and send back. If you are selected for verification, you will be required to turn in your tax forms and all other paperwork they ask for to ALL 10 SCHOOLS. Just so you know… you might want to narrow it down a bit to save some trees and some money.
